Why Is Criminally-Indicted George Santos Still In Congress If His Treasurer Is Guilty?

Nancy Marks – former Treasurer for criminally-indicted George Santos – pleaded guilty to federal charges yesterday. Marks’ guilty plea comes as Santos is being investigated for 13 federal charges.

Despite Marks pleading guilty, George Santos remains in Congress thanks to vulnerable New York Republicans – Nick LaLota, Anthony D’Esposito, Mike Lawler, Marc Molinaro, and Brandon Williams – caving to MAGA extremism by voting to protect their criminally-indicted colleague instead of expelling him.

Here are the facts. LaLota, D’Esposito, Lawler, Molinaro, and Williams repeatedly defended their cowardly inaction with false arguments. Extremist ex-Speaker Kevin McCarthy returned the favor by padding their campaign coffers at swanky fundraisers in the Catskills and Central New York.

DCCC Spokesperson Ellie Dougherty:
“Criminally-indicted George Santos remains in Congress because New York Republicans Nick LaLota, Anthony D’Esposito, Mike Lawler, Marc Molinaro, and Brandon Williams didn’t have the spine to stand up to now ex-Speaker Kevin McCarthy. Their cowardly inaction speaks volumes.”
