WILK Newsradio: Bresnahan called out by WSJ for LOTS of stock trading during critical time
WILK HOST: There is a real struggle out there for people, and people are feeling the pinch. Pay wise, four in 10 hourly workers say living paycheck paycheck to paycheck would be an upgrade from their current financial situation.… And kind of want to, you know, with that as a backdrop, talk about our lawmakers, and I’m not going to divide them by political party, because I’m going to call out two. One of them is a local one, but it shows how the people that we elect are so out of touch with what life is like for the rest of us. Because we know you need to have money to be in politics, because you need to be able to raise money and that right there, it just basically excludes most average everyday people to actually be able to run. So we’re never going to have people who truly represent the people. And an example of that would be representative Rob Bresnahan, Republican here in our district.

WILK HOST: The reason I’m talking about Rob Bresnahan is because of the stock trading that he has done. He’s already standing out as a brand new freshman representative, as having the number two amount of stock trades during the April 1st-8th. Really crazy, tumultuous time and again, a guy who ran on, “We’re going to ban stock trading.” Why wouldn’t you tell your financial people? Because they’ll always say, well, somebody else does it. Why wouldn’t you tell them, hey, tone it down. We’re not going to do this because I want to ban it. But that’s not what happened. It was completely the opposite.

WILK HOST: So Rob Bresnahan called out number two guy on the amount of trades, as they were talking about there. Someone who said he was going to ban trading by members of Congress. If you care deeply about that, why wouldn’t you tell your financial advisor not to if you don’t think it should be allowed. But not only are you doing it, you’re doing it so prolifically, you stand out amongst all others. And again, I go back to my original point, while average people struggle, it does seem like we keep electing politicians, and look, there’s a Democrat called out in that report as well, politicians that don’t know what it’s like for average everyday people in the struggles that they have.
