Yesterday, the Trump Administration successfully petitioned the Supreme Court to end Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for more than 350,000 Venezuelans currently living in the United States. Over 60% (225,000) of these TPS recipients reside in Florida.
While Salazar half-heartedly condemned the Supreme Court’s decision, she neglected to mention that it was only handed down after the Trump administration moved to end the program in the first place.
DCCC Spokesperson Madison Andrus:
“Either María Elvira Salazar is grossly ineffective at advocating for her communities or she’s simply lying about her support for them. Salazar said nothing when Donald Trump moved to end TPS for Venezuelans. Her insincere requests to Trump and slapstick pieces of legislation that she knows are dead on arrival are nothing more than set dressing as she leaves her communities out to dry.
