Will Comstock Support Trump or Cruz?

Will the news that all three of Virginia’s 10th District Republican delegates plan to support Senator Ted Cruz, the architect of government shutdowns, prompt Barbara Comstock to say whom she will support for the nomination? Since Comstock’s first choice dropped out of the race in March, she has still refused to say whom she will support. Considering the candidates similarities, the  choice for Congresswoman Comstock shouldn’t be too difficult.

  • Like Trump Cruz is anti-immigrant
  • Like Trump, Cruz is against women’s health freedoms
  • Like Trump, Cruz encourages dysfunction in Washington

“Despite their similarities, Barbara Comstock tried to distance herself  from Donald Trump without actually saying whom she would support for the nomination,” said Jermaine House of the DCCC. With the delegates from her district vowing to support Ted Cruz at the Republican Convention, will Congresswoman Comstock play the same games on her support for Ted Cruz?”

The Trump-Comstock Agenda:

Immigration – Comstock agrees with Trump’s wholesale rejection of comprehensive immigration reform and has equated Latinos with FedEx packages and suggested that if FedEx can track packages it should be equally easy to track people who do not have legal status to be in the United States.

Supreme Court – Trump has called on the US Senate to refuse to consider any nominee to fill the vacant Supreme Court seat.   Comstock readily adopted the same position.

Equal Pay – Trump has repeatedly insulted women. Comstock similarly said that calls for equal pay for equal work are a “left wing agenda” even though the 10th district has the largest disparity in pay between men and women of any of Virginia’s Congressional districts.

Abortion Rights – While Trump has called for ending abortion rights with exceptions, Comstock chose to back the one candidate for President who would end abortion rights with no exceptions – not for rape, not for incest, not for the health of the mother.  Both agree that Planned Parenthood should be defunded – a position that in Virginia would result in jeopardizing the health of over 22,000 Virginia women.
