Presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump is scheduled to hold a high-dollar fundraiser in vulnerable Congressman Darrell Issa’s coastal California district tomorrow.
Issa is one of Trump’s biggest fans. Issa has:
- Endorsed Trump
- Said he is looking forward to helping Trump become president
- Called on other Republicans to get on the “Trump Train”
- Even introduced Trump at a San Diego rally
So, will Issa’s Trump advocacy extend to fundraising back at home?
Either way, Issa’s fanboying doesn’t do him any favors with his constituents. A recent poll showed that Trump is viewed unfavorably by 60 percent of Issa’s district. Unfortunately for Issa, it’s too late to turn back now. The DCCC started airing national ads this week linking House Republicans like Issa to Donald Trump.
“As one of Trump’s sidekicks, Congressman Darrell Issa continues to put party loyalty before the people of his district,” said Barb Solish of the DCCC. “Issa fundraising for Trump would be just another proof point that he’d rather play politics than address the real issues facing Southern Californians.”
