Ambitious politician John James may still be plotting his next move, but backing President Trump will always be his North Star
There’s no hiding the fact that John James has his eyes on bigger things, and is considering his next move. After losing his Senate race in 2018, James’ burning political ambition has driven him to consider every job under the sun, from the Senate (again), to the House (but which district should he move to?), and even becoming U.S. Ambassador to the UN (No diplomatic experience? Who cares?).
But no matter where James ends up, Michiganders already know where he stands – squarely with Donald Trump. After all, James proudly declared during his Senate campaign that he’s “2,000%” behind President Trump. And, James has backed some of Trump’s key initiatives – from supporting his efforts to raise health care costs and take away protections for Michiganders with pre-existing conditions to backing the President’s massive giveaway to the super-wealthy and big corporations.
“John James is a man on the move, and a politician with a huge ego – Ambassador to the UN, why not? – and who knows what office he’ll seek next on his political ascent,” said DCCC spokesperson Mike Gwin. “But, no matter where James ends up running, we already knows where he stands: ‘2,000%’ behind President Trump. That might be good politics for someone trying to please his party bosses, but it’s bad for middle-class families in Michigan who need their leaders to focus on them – not their own political ambitions.”
