Watkins’ bid for congress shows “how deep the far-right conspiracy-driven group has recently taken hold within the Republican party”
A QAnon leader believed to have posted as ‘Q’ jumped in the race for Arizona’s first congressional district yesterday — and unsurprisingly, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy and NRCC Chairman Tom Emmer are nowhere to be found.
Under McCarthy and Emmer’s leadership, the NRCC “embraces QAnon-affiliated candidates” — but Ron Watkins’ bid for Congress makes him the one of the most well-known QAnon figures to run for office, once again showing “how deep the far-right conspiracy-driven group has recently taken hold within the Republican party.”
Will Kevin McCarthy and Tom Emmer denounce QAnon leader Ron Watkins’ campaign for AZ-01, or will they continue to allow QAnon candidates to turn the GOP into the party of white nationalism and conspiracy theories?
DCCC Spokesperson Johanna Warshaw
“QAnon conspiracy theorists and now a full fledged leader of the far-right group have found a home in Kevin McCarthy and Tom Emmer’s GOP. It’s on them – and every House Republican – to denounce QAnon leader Ron Watkins’ campaign for congress and stand strong against the conspiracy group’s toxic agenda.”
