Will Mike Coffman Support Trump’s Republican Party Takeover?

Congressman Coffman woke up to a harsh reality: Donald Trump is the Republican Party’s prohibitive frontrunner.

Roll Call has just highlighted Colorado’s 6th District as one of six House races at the epicenter of the presidential race. That’s not a good thing for Coffman. House GOP polling indicates that “a plurality of respondents — 48 percent to 40 percent — would be less likely to vote for a Republican congressional candidate or incumbent if Trump were the nominee.”

“It’s clear that Colorado Republicans are in a state of panic at the prospect of Donald Trump being at the top of the ticket,” said DCCC Spokesman Tyler Law. “The question today is simple: will Congressman Coffman really support Trump if he is the nominee?”

Despite all of Trump’s offensive and embarrassing antics, Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy stated that he’ll “work with Donald Trump,” NRCC Chairman Greg Walden compared Trump to Ronald Reagan, and Speaker Ryan has pledged to support Trump if he is the nominee.

But the Republican Party is not without dissenters. Nebraska Senator Ben Sasse came out forcefully against Trump, even saying that he could leave the Republican Party if Trump wins the nomination. Additionally, we’ve seen an increasing amount of Representatives claim they can never support Trump.
