| Breaking new reporting from POLITICO reveals that the New York Young Republican Club is planning to host Markus Frohnmaier, a far-right German politician and leader in the extremist AfD party, at their annual gala in just a few weeks.
This is a deliberate embrace of Nazi-era rhetoric, further exposing New York Republicans’ deep-seated extremism. The GOP club recently promoted the party using the phrase “AfD über alles” – a statement frequently used in Nazi propaganda, and Germany’s intelligence agency classifies the AfD party as a “proven right-wing extremist organization.”
This comes on the heels of a bombshell investigation revealing that Peter Oberacker’s close political allies and friends, Bobby Walker and Peter Giunta, played prominent roles in a vile GOP group chat where leaders of the state party “fantasiz[ed] about putting their opponents in gas chambers, burning their enemies and joking about their love of Hitler.”
As New York Republicans roll out the red carpet for the German extremist, will Mike Lawler take a stand and denounce this extremism in his own political circles?
So far…silence.
REMINDER: Lawler was endorsed by the New York Young Republican Club in 2022, who urged all NY-17 voters to support his congressional campaign.
DCCC Spokesperson Riya Vashi:
“Every day Mike Lawler fails to condemn his party’s dangerous embrace of extremism, he makes clear to Hudson Valley families that he’s not just tolerating this violent, disgusting rhetoric – he’s normalizing it. Voters deserve to know: will Lawler fully denounce NY republicans’ efforts to honor Nazi-affiliated German extremist Markus Frohnmaier?” |
