Will Nick Begich Sign Discharge Petition to Force a Vote on a 3-Year ACA Tax Credit Extension?

The petition has 214 signatures and needs only four Republicans to force a vote to prevent skyrocketing premiums. Why hasn’t Begich signed on?

Time is running out to prevent Alaskans’ health care premiums from skyrocketing – with those reliant on the federal marketplace expected to see a staggering 346% jump in costs on average in the new year.

Nick Begich made it a campaign promise to lower health care costs. But when push comes to shove, he has so far refused to sign onto a measure that would force a vote in the House to extend ACA tax credits for three years.

Only four Republican signatures are needed to prevent health care costs from skyrocketing. Alaska voters deserve to know: Why has Begich refused to act?

DCCC Spokesperson Anna Elsasser:
“If Nick Begich was remotely serious about preventing skyrocketing health care costs, he would join 214 of his colleagues in backing a commonsense measure to extend the ACA tax credits for three years. He refuses to do so because he would rather play political games than actually act to help hardworking Alaska families.”
