With North Carolina’s budget on the line, Senator Bishop has an opportunity to change his ways and finally vote with North Carolinians’ best interests in mind by expanding Medicaid and making their health care more affordable.
And why wouldn’t he? Recent studies showed that expanding Medicaid in North Carolina would create nearly 40,000 new jobs and insure 365,000 more North Carolinians, on top of the well-established fact it would bring down the overall cost of health care.
The reality is that supporting Medicaid Expansion is an opportunity for Senator Bishop to change the subject from his cringe-worthy opposition to more affordable prescription drugs. Senator Bishop staked out that inexplicable position while every other Member of the NC General Assembly, President Trump, and both of North Carolina’s Republican Senators have stood with working people who need affordable prescription drugs.
DCCC Spokesperson Cole Leiter released the following statement:
Senator Bishop, now that you know expanding Medicaid would bring down the cost of health care, add nearly 40,000 jobs in North Carolina, and insure 365,000 North Carolinians, why do you still stand with special interests and against the best interest of everyday working people?
