Will The So-Called Moderates Stop The Medicaid Cuts Today?

Answer: No.

Today, vulnerable House Republicans have the opportunity to stop the largest cut to Medicaid and food access in American history by voting ‘NO’ on a revision to their Tax Scam and stopping the Big, Ugly Bill in its tracks.

After spending months falsely promising they would not cut MedicaidSNAP, or energy jobs, Republicans – including those in swing-districts – immediately caved to the demands of Donald Trump, Speaker Johnson and their D.C. Party Bosses when they voted for the GOP Tax Scam.

Today’s vote comes as the Big, Ugly Bill is faltering in the court of public opinion. New polling from Quinnipiac shows a majority of voters oppose the GOP Tax Scam.

DCCC Spokesperson Justin Chermol:
“It’s time for vulnerable House Republicans to put up or shut up. They have another chance to stand up for their communities, or sell them out yet again. Sadly, we all know what they will do, and it will cost them the majority next year.”

REMINDER: The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office estimates the GOP Tax Scam would result in 16 million people uninsured by gutting Medicaid and failing to extend the Affordable Care Act tax credits. Hospitals will close and nearly 24 million people will see their monthly health care costs increase as a result.
