Will Trump’s Biggest Fan Lee Zeldin Join Pete King in Condemning Ted Cruz’s “New York Values” Attack?

As Ted Cruz makes national headlines for attacking Donald Trump for embodying “New York values,” will Trump ally and fellow New Yorker Congressman Lee Zeldin condemn Cruz’s remarks?

Earlier today, Zeldin’s fellow Republican colleague on Long Island, Congressman Pete King, condemned Cruz and said he should “go back under a rock.”

Lee Zeldin has showered lavish praise on The Donald in the past. ABC News reported that when Trump swung through Washington in September, Zeldin “broadly praised Trump’s positioning on foreign policy.” Zeldin even embraced Trump’s hateful and disparaging rhetoric, saying “Americans want candid, brutally honest, sometimes politically incorrect leadership.”

The support goes both ways. When Zeldin ran for Congress in 2014, Trump contributed to Zeldin’s campaign and helped issue a campaign robocall for Zeldin during last year’s campaign.

“As Ted Cruz goes after Donald Trump for embodying ‘New York values,’ will Trump’s biggest Long Island fan Lee Zeldin join his fellow Long Islander Pete King in condemning Cruz’s attack?” asked Bryan Lesswing at the DCCC. “Whether or not he leaps to Trump’s defense this time, Zeldin has already shown that by cozying up to far-right figures he is far too out of step for Suffolk County.”
