| In 2024, House Republicans promised voters they would lower gas prices. But now that gas prices have gone up under their watch, Republicans are acting like the pain at the pump facing hardworking Americans doesn’t exist.
Recent reporting from Politico found that vulnerable House Republicans have gone radio silent, while Democrats are on offense calling out Republican incumbents across the country for their broken promises.

The contrast couldn’t be starker.
In AZ-06, when talking about the need to to address higher gas prices, Democratic nominee Jo Mendoza said: “Every time people go to the grocery store or the gas pump, or pay their electric or utility bill, they are reminded of how Ciscomani has been absolutely spineless in standing up to Trump.”
In the same story, Ciscomani said:  
In IA-01, Democratic nominee Christina Bohannon said: “People are really struggling. I’ve been hearing about it on the campaign trail a lot.” To put a finer point on it, Bohannan added that “People are going to hold accountable the government who is in power, and rightly so. And right now, that is Mariannette Miller-Meeks and the Republicans.”
When asked to comment, Miller-Meeks’ response was:  
As House Republicans hide from their constituents to avoid answering for rising gas prices, Democrats will continue to hold them accountable for their broken promises.
DCCC Spokesperson Viet Shelton:
“House Republicans not only broke their promise to lower gas prices, they’ve supported policies causing prices to spike in real-time. Their failure to improve the lives of everyday Americans and their silence in the face of struggling constituents is going to cost them the House Majority.”
