With No Winning Midterm Message, House Republicans Campaign on Their Unpopular Tax Scam

The problem for House Republicans: everybody HATES their Tax Scam and thinks their personal taxes are still too high

Without a winning midterm message and countless polls revealing the American public increasingly souring on Republicans’ broken promises and failure to lower costs, House Republicans’ last ditch attempt to communicate with voters is: Please think of us when you are unhappy with your tax bill!

Despite countless promises by House Republicans that their Tax Scam would win over voters during the 2026 tax season, like everything else they’ve promised to the American people, it’s another broken promise. Not only do most Americans believe they pay too much in taxes, but polling released this week highlights that voters explicitly dislike the Republican Tax Scam, as its net favorability is underwater by 13 points.

DCCC Spokesperson Viet Shelton:
“The American people overwhelmingly hate the Republican Tax Scam. No amount of political Tax Day spin will change the reality that hardworking families are getting more and more pissed at House Republicans for jacking up the price of gas, groceries, and health care while billionaires get to cash in on massive tax breaks.”
