WTVG FACT CHECK: Big Pharma-Funded Attack Ads on Rep. Marcy Kaptur FAIL Truth Test

WTVG: “There are misleading claims in these ads that fail our truth test.”

A new fact check from WTVG finds that Big Pharma’s latest attacks on Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur are FALSE.

WTVG ruled that “there are misleading claims in these ads that fail our Truth Test.”

Republicans and Big Pharma are once again lying about Congresswoman Kaptur because they know they can’t beat her actual record of working to lower costs and prioritizing Ohioans over special interests that want to keep prices high.

Watch the fact check for yourself:

WTVG: “Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur is the target of new [ads] claiming she doesn’t support funding federal health care programs.”

WTVG: “There are misleading claims in these ads that fail our truth test.”

“[The ads] cite a vote earlier this year on a continuing resolution that Congress passed… Stop gap appropriation bills like this CR do not touch mandatory spending programs, including Medicare, Social Security and much of Medicaid.”

“[The ads are] part of a $7 million nationwide campaign funded by the conservative group, American Action Network, and backed by big pharma.”

“[The ad] refers to a provision in the Inflation Reduction Act that allows Medicare to negotiate the price of certain prescription drugs… Changing that provision is a priority for the [pharmaceutical] industry.”

“The KFF also says millions of people across the country will benefit from the out of pocket drug spending cap included in the Inflation Reduction Act, including some 67,000 Ohioans.”
