Unsurprisingly, Yoder does not release numbers on the Yoder-Brownback agenda (Brownback is least popular governor in the nation)
Today, Sabato’s Crystal Ball downgraded Yoder’s reelection chances. In a desperate response, Yoder released a poll showing Donald Trump down by 6 points. Yoder has fully embraced his party’s nominee, Donald Trump. Even this Republican poll clarifies that voters in Kansas’ 3rd District are going to reject Donald Trump.
Key Points:
- Trump is losing to Hillary Clinton by 6 points. Most shockingly, he is only at 38%. In short: Trump is headed towards a sizeable loss in KS-03.
- Split ticket voting is increasingly rare. The race between Yoder and Sidie will become tight as a result of the top-of-ticket – regardless of other factors.
- Yoder has not had significant money spent against him in several cycles. His 53% support is likely to be very soft as he is the only known candidate in the race. This will change.
- Desperate candidates release desperate memos. Yoder is aware that he is a uniquely perilous situation.
“Congressman Yoder is sounding the alarms about his increasingly difficult path to reelection,” said DCCC Spokesman Tyler Law. “Yoder’s decision to embrace Trump and Brownback will cost him at the ballot box.”
Notably for Kansas voters, a tax policy expert recently described Trump’s disastrous tax plan as “Kansas on steroids.” There’s no question at this point that Yoder is exporting Brownback’s reckless policies to Washington, DC.
And what does Yoder have to say about Gov. Brownback? Yoder endorsed Brownback’s reelection in 2014, they held a fundraiser together in DC, and have appeared at several campaign events together. This is politically disastrous considering that Brownback is America’s least popular governor.
