Kim’s Alignment with Johnson Comes As Republicans Fail to Reach Fundraising Capabilities Under Former Speaker Kevin McCarthy
Tonight, California Republican Young Kim is reaffirming her full allegiance to the far-right wing of the Republican party by hosting Speaker Mike Johnson for a high-dollar fundraiser in Newport Beach.
As Johnson’s “first concerted effort to back vulnerable California Republicans,” the fundraiser puts “rudderless” Kim on the hook for the extremist Speaker’s MAGA agenda, including an anti-choice platform that would ban abortion nationwide and could outlaw IVF.
Coupled with his lack of fundraising and campaigning acumen, Johnson’s far-right record has so-called “moderate” Kim under the microscope for her anti-abortion votes while representing a district that supported codifying abortion rights by 9 points in 2022.
