Young Kim and Michelle Steel Silent as House Democrats Introduce Legislation to Protect Abortion Access

Kim and Steel refuses to protect reproductive freedom

As women across the country continue to face the brutal consequences of Republicans’ war on reproductive freedoms, House Democrats are re-introducing legislation to protect abortion access and restore the protections the conservative Supreme Court ripped away by overturning Roe.

The Women’s Health Protection Act will codify the reproductive freedoms guaranteed by Roe v. Wade and ensure women nationwide have access to reproductive health care. In January, when given the opportunity to consider the WHPA, Young Kim and Michelle Steel voted to block the bill from being considered. Now, they are once again refusing to support legislation that would restore freedoms the overwhelming majority of Americans support.

DCCC spokesperson Tommy Garcia:
“Young Kim and Michelle Steel have an opportunity to protect abortion rights in California, but instead of joining Democrats’ efforts, they are working with their MAGA extremist colleagues to erode reproductive freedom nationwide. Voters sent a clear message in support of reproductive freedom in 2022, and they will send a louder message in 2024 when they vote Kim and Steel out.”
