Kim stood by Kevin McCarthy as he made promises during dysfunctional speakership election
This week, Kevin McCarthy turned over footage of the January 6th insurrection to known conspiracy theorist Tucker Carlson, a right-wing anchor who has sought to downplay and rewrite history on the deadly coup attempt. According to recent reports, McCarthy’s careless and dangerous release of tapes was part of the promises Kevin McCarthy made to far-right extremists as he struggled to be elected Speaker.
Young Kim stood by as McCarthy made backroom deals with far-right extremists in his bid for Speaker, then accepted every concession made by casting one of the deciding votes to make McCarthy Speaker on the 15th ballot.
Many of McCarthy’s concessions are still unknown, but voters continue to see that McCarthy and the entire House Republican conference is beholden to the far-right – thanks to Kim’s complacency and embrace of the extreme MAGA agenda.
