Young Kim Called Out for Hiding from Her Constituents, Dodging Accountability

“I’m urging Young Kim to step up and schedule a town hall this August. Show up. Listen. Answer questions…That’s democracy.”

Young Kim is getting called out by her own constituents for “hiding behind press releases” and refusing to hold in-person town halls. Voters are demanding that she “show up” and answer for her disastrous YES vote to rip away health care from more than 31,000 people in CA-40 alone.

Kim is one of many House Republicans across the country who are running scared from their own voters this recess, as poll after poll shows the American people hate her GOP Tax Scam that’s ripping off working families.

Read the brutal letter for yourself…

  • When we elect someone to represent us, we expect them to show up — not just in Washington, but here at home.
  • With Congress on recess this August, our Representative should be holding a real, in-person town hall. Not a tele-townhall where questions are screened and scripted. Not a closed-door meeting with a select few. A real town hall where every voter has a chance to be heard, ask questions, and get straight answers.
  • Lately, it feels like too many politicians would rather hide behind press releases and social media posts than face their constituents directly.
  • But public service isn’t supposed to be easy — it’s supposed to be accountable. That’s what town halls are for.
  • There are real issues facing our community: unidentified, masked ICE agents kidnapping people, people soon to be kicked off Medicaid, and so many others that deserve open and honest discussion.
  • We deserve to be part of that conversation — not shut out of it. I’m urging Young Kim to step up and schedule a town hall this August. Show up. Listen. Answer questions. That’s not too much to ask. That’s democracy.
