Young Kim Votes to Restrict Abortion Freedoms

Kim votes against protecting reproductive freedom

As women across the country endure the unimaginable, brutal consequences of Republican’s war on women, Young Kim and House Republicans are doubling down on their anti-choice agenda in the early days of serving in the majority.

Earlier this week, in one of her very first votes in the 118th Congress, Kim voted against consideration of the Women’s Health Protection Act which would codify the reproductive freedoms Roe v. Wade guaranteed before the Supreme Court ripped them away.

On top of blocking abortion protections, today Kim voted to pass anti-choice legislation that could imprison doctors and is “chock-full of misinformation and creates more barriers to care.”

REMINDER that Young Kim

  • Voted against the Right to Contraception Act, to enshrine women’s and families’ right to access contraception into federal law.

  • Voted against the Women’s Health Protection Act, which would codify Roe to protect a woman’s right to abortion.

  • Voted against the Ensuring Access to Abortion Act, which would safeguard a woman’s right to travel to another state to receive an abortion if their state bans the medical procedure. This bill would stop states from putting a bounty on the heads of women, families and doctors who assist in obtaining an abortion.

Clearly, Kim and House Republicans did not learn anything when voters sent a clear and resounding message that they support reproductive freedom – dealing the Republican party an embarrassing midterm performance.

DCCC spokesperson Tommy Garcia:
“Young Kim’s despicable commitment to ripping away reproductive freedom is heard loud and clear. With every extreme vote against protecting and further restricting abortion rights, Kim is building the case against herself for 2024.”
