Rejected Congressman David Young uses campaign to brag that he “voted the most with President Trump over Steve King, over Joni Ernst, over Grassley, over Blum”
When rejected Rep. David Young was in Congress, he repeatedly put his loyalty to Washington Republicans and his special interest backers first — and it cost him his seat.
Young fell in line as Washington Republicans voted to repeal the Affordable Care Act and protections for people with pre-existing conditions — even after he had explicitly pledged to do the opposite. And when Republicans passed a massive tax scam to help wealthy corporations and his campaign backers, Young sided with them over working class Iowans.
Now, the ousted Congressman is bragging about that record, telling conservative radio host Simon Conway, “When I was serving, out of the Iowa delegation, I voted the most with President Trump over Steve King, over Joni Ernst, over Grassley, over Blum…” His comments come as the President threatened just last week to make cuts to Medicare and Social Security in order to pay for the unpopular tax law Young helped pass, giving Iowans yet another reason to reject Young a second time.
“Iowans voted Congressman David Young out of office because he constantly put his loyalty to Washington Republicans ahead of the people he was elected to represent,” said DCCC Spokesperson Brooke Goren. “As the President threatens to make cuts to Medicare and Social Security to pay for the agenda Young is using his campaign to brag about, why should Iowans trust that the Congressman they rejected would represent them better this time around?”
