NY-17 voter to Lawler: “You have abdicated your responsibility to the majority of the constituents in District 17.”
Selling out your own constituents to stand by Donald Trump and his cost-spiking war might earn you points at Mar-A-Lago — but in the Hudson Valley, it didn’t go over too well for Mike Lawler.
At a chaotic town hall this past weekend, Lawler was “pelted with boos” and “drowned by jeers” as furious NY-17 voters grilled him for his blind loyalty to Donald Trump and his support for a reckless war with Iran that is spiking costs and putting American lives at risk.
One angry voter railed into Lawler before being forcibly removed: “You say that when you disagree with Trump, you will tell him so, but that’s not enough…The Republican Party and you are enabling him. You’re all cowards, and you’re spineless.”
But instead of listening Lawler doubled down — defending Trump’s authority to wage war and even scolding his own constituents as the room booed him.
DCCC Spokesperson Riya Vashi: “Mike Lawler got a front row seat to just how fed up his constituents are with him, and it wasn’t pretty. Hudson Valley voters see the truth: Lawler is too weak to stand up to Donald Trump and too out of touch to fight for his district.”
