Investments from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law are headed to Iowa thanks to House Democrats including Rep. Cindy Axne. And after months of refusing to take a position, IA-03 GOP candidate Zach Nunn is finally joining primary opponent Nicole Hasso and admitting that he’d oppose these critical investments – which were even supported by Republican Senator Chuck Grassley.
Thanks to the infrastructure bill, Iowa is set to receive roughly $3.4 billion to improve highways, $432 million for bridge repairs, and millions to expand broadband internet coverage and improve water infrastructure and public transportation. Under Nunn’s leadership as a state legislator, Iowa has the most structurally deficient bridges in the nation and is among the worst states for broadband connectivity.
“If Zach Nunn had his way, he’d let our nation’s crumbling infrastructure fall into disrepair and pass up the opportunity to create good-paying, union jobs in Iowa,” said DCCC spokesperson Elena Kuhn. “It’s pretty simple: Nunn is proving he’d choose rigid partisanship and side with Washington Republicans who lobbied against the bill instead of working across the aisle to deliver results for Iowans. Thankfully, Iowans have Rep. Cindy Axne on their side and good-paying jobs and infrastructure investments are coming to Iowa.”
