Zach Nunn Downplays GOP-Manufactured Shutdown After Admitting It’ll Cost Iowans

Zach Nunn and House Republicans are committed to shutting down the federal government, which Nunn has admitted “will cost every Iowan more.” But now, he’s trying to minimize the impact of a shutdown and claim “most things will continue as normal.”

As his trainwreck of a party barrels toward a shutdown in less than two days, Nunn even bragged that they’re on a “pathway to success.”

Here’s a reminder of how the Nunn-induced shutdown will affect Iowans:

  • Iowa’s more than 36,000 farmers may lose access to farm assistance programs.

  • Nearly 37,000 veterans could lose access to employment and training services.

  • Essential workers – like law enforcement officers and members of the armed forces – would be forced to put their lives on the line without any pay.

  • Over 2,500 federally backed home loans may be delayed every day a shutdown goes on.

  • Over 270,000 small businesses in the district won’t be able to apply for new federal loans.

DCCC Spokesperson Mallory Payne:
“Just look at the receipts: Zach Nunn knows the Republican-manufactured government shutdown will hurt Iowans. No amount of lies will cover up the fact that he is siding with extremists and hurting Iowa families.”
