Zeldin Praises Donald Trump, But Does Donald Trump Support Zeldin?

If Trump Slams Rubio’s “Total No-Show” Record in New Ad, Would He Also Slam Zeldin’s No-Show Record in ISIS/Syria Hearings?

As Donald Trump’s new ad slams Marco Rubio for being a “total no-show in the U.S. Senate”, the question now turns to whether Trump would slam Congressman Lee Zeldin knowing that Zeldin is also a no-show in congressional hearings dealing with ISIS and Syria.

Zeldin – a frequent foreign policy guest on Fox News – garnered embarrassing headlines when the New York Post reported that Zeldin had “missed more than half of full [Foreign Affairs] committee hearings last year.”

Even more alarming, the Post reports that Zeldin skipped out of two-thirds of “full committee and subcommittee hearings focused just on ISIS and the Syrian crisis – issues Zeldin regularly lectures about on cable news.”

“Now that Donald Trump is slamming Marco Rubio for his ‘total no-show’ record in the U.S. Senate, would he also slam Long Island Congressman Lee Zeldin knowing that Zeldin shares a ‘total no-show’ record of skipping out of congressional hearings dealing with ISIS and Syria?” asked Bryan Lesswing at the DCCC. “According to the laws of the Trump transitive property, Zeldin’s no-show record in ISIS and Syria hearings must make him ‘Little Lee.’”

For what it’s worth, Zeldin has been a big fan of Trump’s foreign policy views.

As Trump made a swing through Washington to court lawmakers in September, Zeldin “broadly praised Trump’s positioning on foreign policy.” According to the ABC News piece, Zeldin even embraced Trump’s hateful and disparaging rhetoric, noting that “Americans want candid, brutally honest, sometimes politically incorrect leadership.”
