Will Zeldin side with veterans or defend Trump’s trash-talk?
In the latest round of Trump insults, the presumptive Republican nominee refused earlier today to apologize for calling McCain “not a war hero” last year. Trump even doubled-down and bragged about his character attack against the Arizona Senator, who was held prisoner during the Vietnam War. This comes in the same week in which Trump has also suggested defaulting on our debt and selected a White Nationalist Leader as one his delegates.
Meanwhile, Long Island no-show Congressman Zeldin has made it no secret his excitement for Donald Trump and his reckless rhetoric. Not only did Zeldin endorse Trump, he touted his extensive ties with the presumptive Republican nominee, which included having dinner with Trump.
“Now that no-show Zeldin has fully endorsed Donald Trump will he defend his candidate’s refusal to apologize for calling John McCain ‘not a war hero’?” said Bryan Lesswing at the DCCC. “Long Island voters deserve to know whether Zeldin will side with veterans or defend Donald Trump’s trash talk. In any case, Zeldin’s constituents should be concerned that as Donald Trump continues his reckless rhetoric that – incredibly – includes disparaging POWs, their Congressman thinks Trump is fit to serve as president.”
