After years of pretending to be a defender of the Central Valley while consistently voting the party line, Valadao’s record in his 48th year has finally caught up to him.
Here’s some lowlights:
- After months of empty promises to Californians and pretending to take a stand to protect their health care, David Valadao voted to rip health care away from more than 68,000 people in his district, the highest share of Medicaid recipients of any House Republican.
- That includes up to 87% of children in CA-22 who rely on Medicaid for their health care.
- Valadao’s vote also cut an estimated nearly $90 million from local hospitals, putting essential care and rural facilities at risk.
- Valadao repeatedly backed tariffs that are harming Central Valley farmers and caused American families to pay an average of $1,700 more in the last year.
- He said nothing – and did nothing – as extreme trade decisions, including increased beef imports from Argentina, have sparked alarm and drawn sharp backlash across the cattle industry and rural economy.
- And as the ongoing conflict with Iran escalates, Valadao has downplayed concerns even as costs continue to rise for already-struggling families.
And after that banner year? He said… well… I “vote my conscience.”
