| BREAKING: Government records obtained by POLITICO reveal that Congressman Rob Bresnahan ignored requests and failed to fund a Real-Time Crime Center in Scranton, despite the chief of police saying that the proposed Real-Time Crime Center would enhance public safety.
Bresnahan’s failure to fund the law enforcement-backed effort comes after he spent months lying about Paige Cognetti’s record on crime, with data showing that crime has actually dropped under her leadership.
POLITICO reports that Bresnahan “has made public safety a major issue in his campaign and accused his opponent, Scranton Mayor Paige Cognetti, of being soft on crime and not protecting the city. But when Cognetti’s office reached out to Bresnahan to request federal funding for a Real-Time Crime Center earlier this year, his office didn’t respond to the request or ask for the money, according to government records obtained via a FOIA request.”
Bresnahan owes the people of Northeastern Pennsylvania answers about why he played politics instead of prioritizing public safety.

DCCC Spokesperson Eli Cousin:
“Rob Bresnahan is a serial liar who has used his office to benefit himself instead of the people he was elected to serve. After lying about Paige’s record on crime for months, these records show that it is actually Bresnahan who has opposed crime prevention efforts that are backed by law enforcement. Bresnahan must immediately answer why he put politics ahead of public safety.”
