🚨PHILLY INQUIRER: Scott Perry “Appears To Be In The Toughest Fight Of His Political Career”

We agree.

Scott Perry is on the ropes. New reporting in The Philadelphia Inquirer this morning highlights how Perry “appears to be in the toughest fight of his political career” as he continues to lag in fundraising, cast extreme votes that are hurting Central Pennsylvanians, and suffer from a series of self-inflicted wounds.

The Inquirer reminds readers that “Perry, 63, a member of the conservative House Freedom Caucus, voted last month against a Democratic-led bill to restore recently expired healthcare subsidies amid a national spike in insurance premiums” – a cost-spiking vote that he will be forced to answer for on the campaign trail.

Perry has suffered deeply damaging public missteps in recent months:

  • Perry faced a wave of negative national and local press after he disparaged veterans and servicemembers who disagree with his politics, saying on a right-wing podcast that Democratic veterans only served our country to “get the credential” and that they actually “hate the military” and “don’t support America.”
  • Perry faced backlash for opposing an extension of the ACA tax credits, specifically saying that it would be a “colossal mistake” to lower Central Pennsylvanians’ health care costs.
  • A major story from NBC News exposed Perry’s hypocrisy on the deficit. The reporting outlined how Perry had “spent years railing about the national debt” but is now “facing blowback” and “playing defense” after he voted to add $4 trillion to our deficit.
  • Perry faced scrutiny for saying that he supports the $40 billion bailout of Argentina during a telephone town hall – despite the fact that he doesn’t want to spend money to lower Pennsylvanian’s costs.
  • And multiple public polls show Perry is currently trailing and deeply underwater with Central Pennsylvanians – including Independents.

DCCC Spokesperson Eli Cousin:
“It’s true: Scott Perry is in the toughest fight of his political career, and he has himself to blame. Whether it’s his vote to spike health care costs, or his disgraceful remarks disparaging the service of our veterans, Perry has repeatedly shown Central Pennsylvanians that he will always put his extreme politics ahead of his community.”
