The nonpartisan Cook Political Report just shifted New York’s 21st District in Blake Gendebienās direction to āLean R,ā less than 24 hours afterInside Electionsmoved this seat to the left.Larry Sabato’s Crystal Ball made the same call several weeks ago.
All three race raters rapidly shifting NY-21from āSolid Republicanā all the way to āLeanā shows just how much momentum is behind Blake in his race to defeat extremist Anthony Constantino.
Cook writes in part:
A recent poll from Siena College showed dairy farmer Blake Gendebien up four points, 46%-42%, over Sticker Mule CEO Anthony Constantino.
Itās clear that Constantino, a professional boxer and amateur rapper who put out an album titled āThank You President Trumpā last year,is lagging far behind where a generic Republican should be.Ā
And the trade war with Canada has had a lopsided impact on this border region, damaging Trumpās image with voters.Ā
This race looks increasingly competitive, enough to shift it from Likely to Lean Republican.
Inside Elections writes that āthis is a real race despite the typically Republican DNA of the North Country district,ā also pointing to recent polling showing Blake ahead of Constantino.
DCCC Spokesperson Riya Vashi: āNorth Country voters know exactly who Anthony Constantino is: a self-dealing extremist whoās more focused on kissing up to his party bosses than fighting to lower costs for hardworking families. Dairy farmer Blake Gendebien knows what it really means to fight for his community ā thatās why the North Country will send him to Congress in November.ā
