COOK POLITICAL REPORT: “There’s no doubt that as the environment continues to deteriorate for Republicans, this race could be quite close”
BREAKING: Harviementum continues to build.
Non-partisan race rater Cook Political Reportjust shifted Pennsylvania’s 1st Congressional District in Bob Harvie’s direction – the latest sign that Republican Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick has never been more vulnerable.
Cook notes in part that “this race looks tighter than it was this summer,” and momentum is shifting toward Democrats as “Harvie is getting some support from the DCCC and House Majority PAC.”
DCCC Spokesperson Eli Cousin: “Bob Harvie is surging at the perfect time and the momentum is only growing by the day. The reason is simple: Bucks and Montgomery voters are realizing that Brian Fitzpatrick has changed after spending a decade in Washington, and they want someone who will fight for them. Fitzpatrick can’t run on his own record because he has nothing to show except higher prices for gas, groceries, and health care. Harviementum, baby.”
MOMENTUM CONTINUES TO SURGE BEHIND HARVIE’S CAMPAIGN:
The New York Times reported on the PA-01 race and noted that “the party is making its biggest play there in years in the campaign’s final sprint.” A former longtime Fitzpatrick voter told the Times that they will be voting for Harvie this time.
The Philadelphia Inquirer Editorial Board endorsed Harvie and offered a blistering takedown of Fitzpatrick. The endorsement is especially notable given that the Editorial Board has previously endorsed Fitzpatrick in past years.
POLITICO and The Bulwark reported that Fitzpatrick is using fake citations in his attack ads that are written by a convicted felon and longtime personal friend who he has directly paid.
