| Non-partisan race rater Cook Political Report just shifted their prediction for North Carolina’s 1st Congressional District to “Toss Up” as Don Davis continues to prove Republicans’ dummymander is a complete failure.
In part, Cook writes:
- Republicans redistricted North Carolina last year with the clear intention of preventing Democratic Rep. Don Davis from returning to Congress in 2027.
- But the wide gap in enthusiasm between Democratic and Republican voters in this working-class district gives Davis a real shot at holding on to his seat […]
- Democratic polls, which have consistently shown a close race for the past year, now show Davis leading Republican nominee Laurie Buckhout by several points.
- Davis, an Air Force veteran and pastor, also has a history of outperforming the top of the ticket by a couple of points — though with former Gov. Roy Cooper, an eastern North Carolina native, at the top of the ticket, he may not need to.
The ratings change comes on the heels of Inside Elections also shifting their prediction for NC-01 towards Democrats, making it crystal clear that North Carolina families have no interest in Laurie Buckhout’s price-hiking agenda.
DCCC Spokesperson Madison Andrus:
“Eastern North Carolinians have no interest in another out-of-touch extremist rubber-stamp like Laurie Buckhout that’s willing to throw hardworking families under the bus to please her party bosses. Don Davis is an independent leader that Eastern North Carolinians know they can trust, and they’ll send him back to Congress in November.” |
