After 10+ Months in Congress, Riggleman Struggles to Keep Campaign Afloat

Denver Riggleman Burns Through Cash Ahead of Tough Primary Fight

FEC reports are out and things aren’t looking good for Rep. Denver Riggleman, who has had more than ten months to build up a formidable warchest.

Instead, Riggleman spent almost everything he raised.

The vulnerable Republican is burning through cash at a staggering rate of 91 percent, a sign that he’s spending big cash to defend his seat from a primary challenge.

What’s worse, he only has $211K cash on hand, showing he’s not building up the resources to defend his seat if he makes it to the general election.

Sheesh!

“Money talks and Denver Riggleman’s spending screams: I’m in trouble,” said DCCC Spokesperson Christine Bennett. Riggleman’s path to re-election continues to be an uphill battle now that he’s got at least one primary challenger, and the odds of him keeping this seat aren’t getting any better.”

The Commonwealth’s 5th Congressional District was added to the DCCC’s Offensive Battlefield in August.
