PENCE ON VIDEO: “Congressman Paulsen Has Been Fighting Everyday Shoulder to Shoulder with President Trump”
In what might be one of the most unhelpful comments of the 2018 election cycle, Vice President Mike Pence today gave a full-throated endorsement of vulnerable Rep. Erik Paulsen, saying he has been “fighting everyday shoulder to shoulder with President Trump.”
Paulsen represents a district that voted for Hillary Clinton by 9 points, but his record under President Trump highlights an out-of-touch politician ready to be voted out this November:
- Paulsen votes with President Trump a whopping 97 percent of the time in Washington.
- Paulsen voted for the unpopular Trumpcare bill, raising healthcare costs on Minnesotans and gutting protections for those with pre-existing conditions.
- Paulsen was a chief architect of the unpopular GOP tax scam that caps the important SALT deduction that 1 in 3 Minnesotans rely on and adds $1.5 trillion to the national debt.
- Paulsen hasn’t held a public town hall in 6 years, yet he was on-stage at the Pence GOP Tax Scam rally to help pad his re-election war chest.
“Vice President Pence said what so many Minnesotans already know: Erik Paulsen has put President Trump’s harmful agenda ahead of his own constituents,” said DCCC Spokesperson Rachel Irwin. “Whether he’s embracing Republican efforts to raise healthcare costs or add trillions to the deficit to give tax breaks to the ultra-wealthy, Erik Paulsen is out-of-step with this suburban district ready for new leadership in Congress.”
