BREAKING NEWS: Martha McSally Finally Takes a Position on Something… The Republican Tax Plan Arizonans Oppose

Vulnerable Rep. Martha McSally is finally taking a public position on something. Unfortunately for her, the Republican tax plan she fully embraced today is disliked by a majority of voters in her district and would give tax cuts to corporations and the wealthiest one percent at the expense of Arizona families, who will pay $1,370 more on average under McSally’s plan.

McSally fully admitted today that after failing to accomplish a single legislative accomplishment, it’s time for Republicans to show they can govern and “get some things done” on tax reform. But, according to a new poll, a majority of voters (51 percent) in AZ-02 oppose the Republican tax framework and 53 percent would be less likely to vote for her McSally if she votes for it. The poll also notes that McSally is in for a tough re-election battle with 47 percent of voters unhappy with her job performance in Congress as she embraces Speaker Paul Ryan and President Trump, who are also unpopular.

DCCC spokesperson Rachel Irwin released the following statement in response:

“Martha McSally is desperately out of touch with her constituents if she thinks giving tax cuts for corporations and the wealthiest one percent at the expense of Arizona’s working families is ‘getting something done.’ The last time she urged Republicans to ‘get something done’ she was voting to rip away health care from Arizonans and raise their premiums. This doesn’t bode well for McSally’s re-election chances when voters are clearly frustrated with a Washington establishment that puts special interests and the ultra-wealthy ahead of Arizonans.”
