California Small Businesses Deserve to Know Why Mike Garcia Voted Against The Bipartisan TRUTH Act

A Measure Which Would Provide Greater Transparency on PPP for Small Businesses in California

Amid this unprecedented pandemic, small businesses across California are suffering and the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), which provides hundreds of billions of dollars in small business loans to protect critical local jobs is a critical lifeline. While the PPP has been a lifeline for small businesses across the country, many California small business owners still have not been approved without explanation.

That’s why the House voted on the TRUTH Act to ensure greater transparency of how PPP funds are allocated, and to make sure funds get to the small businesses for which they are intended. But today Mike Garcia showed his true colors, and the voters of CA-25, how quickly he has become a creature of Washington and a full-time rubber stamp for Trump and the Washington GOP.

Garcia joined with a handful of other Washington Republicans and blocked this bill, which had wide bipartisan support, choosing to put Washington style politics ahead of the need to transparently protect jobs for hardworking Southern California families.

“While Congress is doing everything to ensure critical funds make it to America’s small businesses, Mike Garcia and a handful of Washington politicians chose to put swamp style politics ahead of hard-working families in Southern California. CA-25 voters deserve to know why Mike Garcia doesn’t support greater transparency for California’s small business in this time of economic crisis. Clearly, Congressman Garcia must think, as he said during the campaign, that folks should fend for themselves,” said DCCC Spokesperson Andy Orellana.
