DCCC Statement on Max Miller’s Refusal to Step Aside Amid Serious, Credible Allegations of Domestic Abuse

DCCC spokesperson Riya Vashi released the following statement after Ohio’s ballot deadline passed with Max Miller refusing to step aside as the Republican nominee in the 7th Congressional District — despite serious, credible allegations of domestic abuse and mounting calls from both sides of the aisle to resign:
“The horrific allegations levied against Max Miller, who has a lengthy record of alleged domestic violence, are credible and cannot be ignored. Rather than step aside, Miller has chosen to cling to power and put his family and his constituents through a public spectacle of his own making. Let’s be clear: this is the same playbook Max Miller has run before — deny, deflect, and drag his accusers through the mud. The people of Ohio’s 7th Congressional District deserve better, and they will get it in November when they elect Brian Poindexter and deliver the verdict Max Miller has refused to accept.”

THE MOMENTUM IS ON BRIAN POINDEXTER’S SIDE IN OH-07:

  • Brian is leading Miller by 14 points in the latest co/efficient poll, a 9-point swing in a single week. In a similar survey conducted by the same Republican firm just a week prior, Miller was already down five points. Several other polls have Brian up consistently outside the margin of error and show Miller deeply underwater with OH-07 voters.
  • All three nonpartisan race raters have recently shifted OH-07 in Democrats’ direction. Sabato’s Crystal Ball shifted the race from Likely Republican to Leans Republican in July and has said it is moving to toss-up. Inside Elections moved OH-07 from Likely Republican to Lean Republican this month. Cook Political Report moved the district from Solid Republican to Likely Republican in June.
  • Brian has picked up major endorsements, including from Republicans and national unions. Brian has earned endorsements from Senator Bernie Sanders, Former Congressman Tim Ryan, Berea Mayor Cyril Kleem, Congressman Chris Deluzio, Ohio State Senate Minority Leader Nickie J. Antonio, the Ironworkers International, AFSCME, UAW, the Ohio AFL-CIO, AFGE, CWA, and many more.
