| DCCC Spokesperson Eli Cousin issued the following statement in response to Speaker of the House Mike Johnson today campaigning across Pennsylvania as panic sets in for Republicans and costs continue to rise thanks to policies backed by Brian Fitzpatrick, Ryan Mackenzie, Rob Bresnahan, and Scott Perry:
“Brian Fitzpatrick, Ryan Mackenzie, Rob Bresnahan, and Scott Perry are sinking faster than the Titanic because Pennsylvanians are tired of the corruption in Washington that is costing them and their families. Their decision to campaign with a creature of Washington in the closing days of the election is a signal to Pennsylvanians that all they have to offer is more of the same: higher prices, devastating health care cuts, and a reckless war in Iran that has sent gas and diesel prices to record highs. The best way to shake up a broken Washington is for Pennsylvanians to vote these bums out.”
Background:
- Franklin & Marshall polling from August shows that among Pennsylvania voters, “Democrats currently lead Republicans by 12 points, 48% to 36%, in their preferences for the US House of Representatives.” Inquirer/New York Times/Siena University polling shows Pennsylvania voters favor a Democratic controlled Congress by 9 points.
- This week, Mike Johnson promised a continuation of the last two years if Republicans remain in the majority, saying, “What we would do in the next two years is exactly what we have been doing already.”
