George Santos Votes to Restrict Abortion Rights

As women across the country endure the unimaginable, brutal consequences of Republican’s war on women, George Santos and House Republicans are doubling down on their anti-choice agenda in the early days of serving in the majority.

Earlier this week, in one of his very first votes in Congress, Santos voted against consideration of the Women’s Health Protection Act which would codify the reproductive freedoms Roe v. Wade guaranteed before the Supreme Court ripped them away.

On top of blocking abortion protections, today Santos voted to pass anti-choice legislation that could imprison doctors and is “chock-full of misinformation and creates more barriers to care.

REMINDER: Not only has Santos prided himself as being “unapologetically” anti-choice, he has also compared abortion to slavery, called it “barbaric”, admitted that he “would be in favor of” criminalizing doctors who performed abortions, and casted doubt on young victims of rape, insisting they needed to have “proven police documentation” in order to receive an abortion.

While House Democrats worked to protect women by passing the Women’s Health Protection Act, Santos called it “the most perverse bill in the history of our country.”

DCCC spokesperson Nebeyatt Betre:
“Santos’ despicable commitment to ripping away reproductive freedom is heard loud and clear. Someone as unfit to serve in Congress as George Santos has no right to dictate what women can or can’t do with their own bodies and families.”
