Following the passage of the Protect Our Kids Act yesterday, House Democrats once again took action to address the gun violence epidemic.
Today, the House passed the Federal Extreme Risk Protection Order Act, legislation “which would allow law enforcement and family members to obtain an extreme risk protection order to temporarily remove access to firearms for those who are deemed a danger to themselves or to others by a federal court.”
Simple “red flag” legislation like this would decrease the risk of crime, violence, and mass shootings – yet House Republicans overwhelmingly voted against it.
DCCC spokesperson Tommy Garcia:
“House Republicans refuse to muster an ounce of courage to stand up against the gun lobby. Instead, they cower and continue to vote against broadly popular, commonsense legislation that would save lives.”
