ICYMI: Trump-Loyalist and Career Politician Michelle Park Steel Announced Her Candidacy For CA-48, But 30 Miles North and In the Wrong County

Orange County Supervisor Michelle Park Steel Announced Campaign for Congress, But In Downtown Los Angeles

Last week, it was reported that career politician and Trump-loyalist, Orange County Supervisor Michelle Park Steel announced her bid for California’s 48th Congressional District… BUT NOT IN THE 48th DISTRICT AND NOT EVEN IN ORANGE COUNTY….BUT 30 MILES AWAY in Los Angeles.

Park Steel said that she would hold her first fundraising event June 4 in Downtown Los Angeles – again not Orange County – as she hopes to raise $5 million before the March primary. But when asked for confirmation of her decision to run, Park Steel “couldn’t be reached for comment” and yet hasn’t spoken up on social media.

“Why the secrecy around Michelle Park Steel’s campaign? Why announce it outside of the district and even outside of Orange County? Maybe the Park Steel for Congress campaign is still figuring out how to answer for a career spent defending and supporting the Trump presidency – from the GOP Tax Scam to attacks on Californians’ healthcare,” said DCCC Spokesperson, Andy Orellana. As Michelle Park Steel bungles her campaign rollout, Congressmen Rouda has wasted no time showing up and fighting for his district – from working to make the nation safer for all Americans, to pushing for equal pay for equal work to cracking down on corruption in Washington.

This is not the first major fail for Orange County Republicans in CA-48, as former county GOP chair Scott Baugh told the OC Register last month that, “the timing and circumstances aren’t right” for him to run for Congress. As Republicans continue to decide what they would like to run for next, Orange County Democrats are getting to work.
