John Duarte Among Most Vulnerable Republicans in the Country

John Duarte ranked third most vulnerable incumbent

Reporting this week from CQ Roll Call details how John Duarte is one of the most vulnerable House Republicans in the country. After barely winning election in 2022, House Democrats are aggressively gearing up to flip the House in 2024 and Duarte is a top target.

Duarte has spent his first four months in Congress siding with far-right extremists, failing to protect abortion rightsprotecting wealthy tax cheats, airing political and personal grievances, and pushing America toward a catastrophic default in order to advance an extreme agenda that guts American jobs, food security programs, grants handouts to wealthy corporations, and threatens veterans’ benefits.

From the Roll Call analysis:

“In 2022, Duarte barely squeaked past Democrat Adam Gray, winning by less than 600 votes in what was the GOP’s closest margin of victory in a district that backed Biden in 2020. […] But Democrats say his support for Speaker Kevin McCarthy’s conservative agenda is out of step with the politics of the district, which became more Democratic after redistricting.”

DCCC spokesperson Tommy Garcia:
“John Duarte has spent his early days in Congress giving voters every reason to reject him in 2024. Voters can see that Duarte has prioritized siding with far-right extremists and putting politics before people, instead of working to solve actual challenges working families face in the Central Valley – and it will cost him.”

Duarte won his 2022 election by only 564 votes and represents a district President Biden won by 11 points.
