Today, Rep. Jeff Denham voted to move forward with a rule that allows for a vote on a hardline, partisan immigration bill. Voting for this rule effectively kills the discharge petition that would have allowed for an up or down vote on the DREAM Act. Instead, Jeff Denham sided with Republican party bosses and anti-immigrant hardliners.
“This vote kills the discharge petition to bring the DREAM Act to the floor and exposes Rep. Jeff Denham as a fraud,” said DCCC spokesperson Drew Godinich. “There is nothing moderate or centrist about lying to your constituents, selling out to DC party bosses, and turning your back on DREAMers.”
