It’s a New Year and a brand new Mike Bishop in Michigan’s 8th Congressional District. Bishop, who was outraised the past two quarters by national security leader Elissa Slotkin, is now desperately trying to re-brand himself and hide his positions on a variety of issues as he faces the toughest election battle of his career.
Just weeks after House Republicans lost a Trump +20 district in PA-18, Detroit News caught Mike Bishop scrubbing his campaign website of his reckless track record of championing the repeal of Obamacare and anti-worker legislation. See his 2017 website/issue statements here, compared to his 2018 website.
“Mike Bishop can scrub his website, but he can’t conceal his record of raising healthcare costs or pushing anti-worker laws that hurt Michigan families,” said DCCC Spokeswoman Rachel Irwin. “It shouldn’t take an election year for Mike Bishop to make the opioid epidemic, kids’ safety or protecting the Great Lakes a priority. Mike Bishop may think he can deceive Michigan voters, but this type of dishonesty won’t play well at the polls this November.”
