New DCCC Poll: Rosen Holds Six Point Lead Over Tarkanian

Voters Reject Trump and Trump-Lemming Tarkanian

Henderson community leader Democrat Jacky Rosen leads perennial candidate Republican Danny Tarkanian by six points, 40% to 34%, in a new poll released by the DCCC. The poll also finds that Secretary of State Hillary Clinton holds an eight-point lead over Donald Trump in this Southern Nevada swing district. Tarkanian is a vocal supporter of Trump and his policies, and even introduced him at a rally in Las Vegas recently.

After blowing through cash to survive a deluge of brutal attack ads, Tarkanian is limping out of his primary battle against establishment favorite Michael Roberson. This is Tarkanian’s sixth run for political office, after losing campaigns for state Senate, Secretary of State, U.S. Senate, U.S. House (in another district) and, most recently, dropping out of a Board of Regents race. Notably, Tarkanian – despite his famous last name – performs worse in this poll against Rosen than Roberson did in a March DCCC poll and has a net-negative profile.

Rosen, on the other hand, continues to consolidate her Democratic base, leads with independents by five points, and holds a 37-point lead with Hispanic/Latino voters.

“Tarkanian is out of touch, scandal-ridden, and the worst kind of Trump lemming,” said Barb Solish of the DCCC. “This poll shows that no matter how much money he spends or how many people know his last name, Southern Nevadans will reject perennial candidate Danny Tarkanian in November – again.”

Nevada’s open 3rd Congressional District, which runs along the southern tip of the state and includes parts of Las Vegas and Henderson, is considered one of the most competitive in the nation. President Obama won the district in 2008 and 2012 and now has 4,649 more registered Democrats than Republicans.
