Earlier this week, the NRCC released their inaugural list of 35 “Contender” candidates to highlight prominent candidates that are, allegedly, building strong campaigns.
Many other former Members of Congress made the list, but retread and failed Senatorial candidate Scott Taylor was noticeably absent.
This comes not long after Taylor claimed the NRCC was behind him. In a radio appearance Taylor said, “We’ve spoken to the NRCC, and they’ve essentially said we want you, we need you, if you’re in this will be the number one race of our focus in this region.”
Perhaps Taylor was snubbed because he’s nearly broke or because he’s facing a competitive primary; either way, this is pretty embarrassing for the former Representative who touts himself as a star recruit.
“Yikes,” said DCCC spokesperson Christine Bennett.
REMINDER: Taylor lost his re-election bid after his campaign became embroiled in a scandal as his team was found using taxpayer-funded resources to do his political dirty work.
