Is a family feud brewing in the Republican Party?
The NRCC today added Sandy Smith (NC-01), the insurrectionist who has been accused of domestic violence towards multiple family members, to their Young Guns program. Her profile on the NRCC website points out how she “won the primary without a runoff for the second consecutive cycle, defeating a field of 7 men to win the nomination against unprecedented spending.”
What the NRCC website doesn’t mention is that the spending came from their own team: Kevin McCarthy’s super PAC, Congressional Leadership Fund, spent nearly $600,000 against Sandy Smith in a failed attempt to keep her from winning her primary.
“Weird flex for the NRCC to be bragging about how Sandy Smith withstood unprecedented spending from their own Republican leadership,” said DCCC spokesperson Monica Robinson.
