California trust fund millionaire Paul Junge is still trying to buy a seat in Congress, and still failing miserably at persuading mid-Michigan he deserves their vote. Junge’s most recent quarterly campaign finance report revealed that his campaign is being bankrolled by the most extreme voices in the Republican Party, including the DeVos family, Kevin McCarthy, and the gun lobby.
Now, another new filing shows that he accepted a maximum contribution from convicted felon Lewis Stahl. Stahl pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 30 months in prison for flagrantly evading taxes on more than $21 million in business income, instead spending that money on luxury items for himself. He is also a donor to far-right organizations like the Tea Party Patriots Foundation, which helped organize the rally that preceded the deadly January 6th insurrection at the Capitol.
“California trust fund millionaire Paul Junge thinks he can show up in mid-Michigan and buy a congressional seat, but voters will reject his radical agenda,” said DCCC spokesperson Matt Corridoni. “Junge would be a vote for national Republican leaders who want to privatize Social Security and allow drug companies to price gouge Michiganders. Junge will always put his special interest backers and wealthy friends ahead of mid-Michigan families.”
